Sportsman's Knife

8 3/4" Overall Length, 4" Blade, CPM 154 Stainless Steel, Bubinga Scales with S.S. Pins and Bolsters

Sportsman's Knife with Custom Leather Holster

Knife and Holster in Walnut Display Case
I made this knife for a raffle to benefit a local sportsmans' club.  The blade is 5/32" CPM 154 Stainless, heat treated by Texas Knifemaker's Supply with additional Cryogenic treating to enhance its edge holding properties.  Bubinga Scales and Stainless Steel pins and Bolsters adorn the blade with finishing touches added by a copper tube mosaic center pin.  A hand-stitched horse leather sheath adds an attractive, durable way to protect this knife as it's carried in the field.

Leather Holster

Front View - Holster for Ruger .22 with Magazine Pouch
Rear View - Holster for Ruger .22 with Magazine Pouch
Not a whole lot to say about this one.  First attempt at making a holster.  Generally, happy with how it turned out.  If this was for anything but personal use, I would have started over about half-way through, but continued on.

Doing it over, for this gun in particular, I would not put the clip on the holster, as the large square end gets in the way and scratches the leather every time it is placed in/out.  But it works...

Mini's

I have been wanting to make some smaller, "mini" knives for some time.  After making the Knife for Ethan, I had a some stainless left over.  I did not get the logo etched deep enough, so not a lot of effort was put into the finish of these knives.

3-3/4" Overall Length, 1 1/2" Blade, Padauk Scales with Brass Pins, 3/16" Stainless Steel
3-3/4" Overall Length, 1 1/2" Blade, Locust Scales with Brass Pins, 3/16" Stainless Steel
Matched Pair?
The reddish-handled knife has padauk scales, while the tan knife's scales are from an old locust post.   I am pleased with the design of these, but am not happy with the quality of these two.  I did learn a few lessons along the way.

Knife for Ethan

This knife was made for my son.  He had been asking me to make one for quite some time.  The knife is made from 3/16" Stainless Steel, with brass bolsters and pins.  The scales are walnut.  I took some of the styling cues from my Buck 110 folder.  This knife is intentionally a bit smaller than normal to fit his hands.
I made the hand-stitched sheath from horse butt leather.  I still laugh every time I say Horse Butt.

9/16 of a Knife

I made this pair of knives on a bit of a whim.  I was cleaning up my garage, and trying to find a place to put some old wrenches I picked up in a box of miscellaneous items at an auction.  The last wrench was an old 9/16" combination wrench.  The 9/16" is of special significance to a handful of family and friends, so, I decided to make each half into knives.

Each knife has a custom made sheath.  As the wrenches were in pretty rough shape prior to adding the knives, I did not polish these.

These knives were given away as gifts.  A close friend has the open-end wrench-knife and his grandson has the other half.  It should be noted that these are not the most practical knives (or wrenches).  Extreme care should be taken when tightening or loosening nuts or bolts!

Small Skinner

I made this knife from an old circular saw blade I had laying around.  It has walnut scales with stainless pins and bolsters. The sheath was custom made.  This knife ranks as one of my favorites, perfect for small game.

New Pics

I posted a couple of new pictures of a knife I made a couple of years ago for a friend and co-worker.  This was one of my first knives.

This gut-hook design knife was made from a stainless blank purchased from the Texas Knifemaker's Supply.   I made the knife's scales from a piece of leftover hardwood flooring from his remodeling project.  The sheath was also purchased from Texas Knifemaker's Supply.  I added the scallops and a few additional details.
